Lester wants more from Wolverines

(Toronto) Canada Wolverines Coach Jamie Lester has implored his players not to settle for results following his team’s upset victory over the 12th ranked USA Tomahawks. The Wolverines next play Jamaica on July 20th again at Lamport Stadium, and Lester is demanding improvements from his players.
“Of course I am happy with the result, but that doesn’t necessarily mean I am happy with the performance. Sometimes a good result can mask our mistakes and our need for improvement. Our boys should not simply judge our performance on the result, but look at whether or not we achieved our goals. Ball control was probably the big one with our completions being around the 50 percent mark in the first half. We were lucky to still be in the game at half time with that completion rate, and we obviously have to place greater importance on this area” commented Lester.
Lester continued “There were some areas of the game that I am completely happy with and there are others that need to be tweaked. The Jamaicans play a different style to USA so we know we will have to stay on our toes if we want to stop the more unconventional play of the Reggae Warriors. They continue to improve from year to year and have some great development pathways down there. They will be throwing everything at us. I know they are desperate for victory after their narrow loss last year.
