Thompson expects Broncos to be fired up Monday

Raiders second row forward Joel Thompson said he expects the Broncos to come to Canberra to prove a point on Monday night, following their big loss to the Warriors last Monday at Suncorp Stadium.
The Broncos suffered a heavy 56-18 defeat against New Zealand in round 12 and Thompson said they’ll come to Canberra looking to make amends.
“They’re a good side and they’ll be looking to bounce back from their loss to the Warriors,” he said. “They’re a good team right across the paddock and we know they have guys in there like Hodges, Thaiday and Gillett who are backing up from Origin and will be keen to put their stamp on the game.”
The Raiders are coming off a bye in round twelve and will be looking to continue their 2013 unbeaten run at Canberra Stadium and Thompson said the preparation has been tough and focussed on making sure the team is best prepared after a week off.
“We’ve had a few hard sessions in the past couple of days to make sure we’re ready both physically and mentally for this game,” he said. “Like we say every week we need to stick to our game plan, get through our sets and reduce the errors we have in the game.
“In the NRL errors are a big part and can cost you the game and crucial errors have been hurting us this year so we need to get on top of that.”
Before the bye the Raiders suffered two close losses on the road against the Sharks and Sea Eagles and Thompson said it’s hard to pinpoint why the road trips have been tough for the team this season.
“Last year we struggled at home but were winning away and this year it’s the opposite,” he said. “It’s rugby league if we were on top of it and knew the problem we’d be undefeated.
“Hopefully we can keep going with our good form at home and continue it Monday night with a win against Brisbane.”
