Wolfman set to join Washington DC Slayers


Reggae Warrior Tyrone “Wolfman” Rowe has accepted an offer to play for the Washington DC Slayers Rugby League club in the United States. The Slayers are a semi-pro team that competes in the 6 team USARL competition that runs from June to August. Tyrone is finishing a stint in the UK with the York Acorns and will be joining the Slayers in early July. Fans may remember Tyrone as he dominated in the Hurricanes v Slayers match last year in Kingston, Jamaica; receiving the Slayers coach’s pick as Man of the Match for his 4 try performance. According to the Slayers management staff, “Tyrone is an exciting player to watch and will bring an increased level of play to the Slayers”. Tyronie’s domestic clubs are the Vauxhall Vultures and Hurricanes Jamaica. He is a prolific try scorer who plays at second row, he had two productive two seasons at Coventry Bears before switching York Acron in the UK. The Wolfman has been capped 5 times at the international level for the Reggae Warriors. The Wolfman is looking forward to his stint in the American competition and said;
“Its been a pleasure for me to have been invited to play for Washington DC Slayers. I’ve accepted that invitation with gratitude and is looking forward to perform at my best because only my best is good enough. I haven’t got a lot to say about the strategy of the game nor the level of performance I will bring to the team, but its action time for me now.”
Rowe joins a second Jamaican and former Reggae Warrior Brian “Stiffler” Hutchinson at the Slayers and is the third Jamaican player to feature in the USARL this season as Romaen “Gully”Campbell, another Reggae Warrior international is signed to the Boston 13s club. Brian impressed with his bollocking runs for the Duhaney Park Red Sharks in the recently held USARL 9s. The Jamaican club made it to the quarter finals on the back on his aggressive play.
